Bring! Grocery Shopping List

I've been searching for a decent shopping list app for a while now. Usually, and to my dismay, there's always the ones loaded with useless features, or the ones from the so-simple-it's-barely-functional category, which although free, they hardly match with what an ergonomic interface ought to be. It's true that I am not regularly on the lookout for shopping apps, the urge comes in spurts, usually when my pantry starts emptying out. But it just happened that yesterday, while rummaging through the Play Store I had a love at first sight experience.

Bring! is what it's called, and even the name itself evokes one of the most primal messages which cave ladies used to signal to the men in ages past. The likes of 'Go and hunt that mammoth. Oh, and also buy some tampons, and a can of tuna.'

There's barely any time to study a digital shopping list when busy shoppers are all around you, and the sound pollution level is at the mildly annoying levels. But to counter all that, Bring! features a very clear and streamlined workflow. Big red icons with suggestive artwork and minimal text are used to describe cart items. To mark an article, you tap it, and it will move into the Recently Used category, which is readily accessible underneath, allowing you to add items back easily.

You can add items to your shopping list by browsing the categories, but the search function is also very adaptable. Although the shopping items themselves can be generic, searching for a 'pecan bar,' for example will return all compatible results and will also append unknown searched terms to the result icons, which lets you add in custom items incredibly easy.

But that is not all. The coolest part of Bring! is the Invite feature. When setting up a list, you can invite other registered users to participate. In this way, everyone can contribute to the list without you having to write it all down. This feature is especially useful for office errands and the like.

Final Thoughts

Bring! is the most elegant, most functional shopping app that I have ever used. The choice to combine the search function with item customization is brilliant. Also, the collaborative shopping list eases up the process of gathering shopping orders tremendously. I wholeheartedly recommend Bring! for any passionate grocery shopper.
